Food & Beverage Service
This programme is designed for people who want a career in hospitality and be able to work as service personnel in cafes and unlicensed restaurants, bars or clubs, restaurants which provide table and/or buffet services, establishments which cater to in-house functions, or people who are employed as baristas in hospitality establishments. We will help you increase your confidence and teach you skills and knowledge that will support your employment opportunities across a range of establishments, provide a lot of hands on experience and establish standards of professional practice for basic service that can provide customers with confidence in a range of hospitality environments.
Programme content includes:
- Knowledge of commercial espresso coffee equipment
- Food safety methods in the food business
- Food preparation
- Knowledge of culinary products
- Knowledge of New Zealand wines and producers
- Payment transactions
- Functions and events experience
- Payment transactions
- Dealing with customer complaints
- Industry and related knowledge
New Zealand Certificate in Food & Beverage Service Level 3 with strands in Café, Bar, Functions, Restaurant and Quick Service Restaurant Services
Industry certificates – Barista, LCQ & Food Safety
Length and hours:
8.45am to 4.00pm, Monday to Thursday and 8.45am to 1.00pm on Friday.
Students must be over the age of 18 due to NZ liquor licensing laws
For the full programme including all 5 strands, course costs are $4,500. If you are wanting to do individual or certain strands of this qualification, please contact us for further information on programme fees. This amount may be claimed and covered by the Student Loan system or paid in full by the student prior to programme commencement.
Strand 1 starts 4th February 2019. Please contact us for further information on start dates for other strands within this qualification.
Withdrawal and Refund Policies:
A full refund will be given if a withdrawal is made at least two weeks prior to programme commencement. A full refund will be given, less $500 or 10% of total fees – whichever is the lesser, if a withdrawal is made within two weeks prior to programme commencement or within the first eight days after programme commencement. No refunds will be given from eight days after the first day of programme commencement.
