Education Support and Care Level 3 | Teacher Aide

programme prepares learners for roles as education support workers or teacher aides in schools and early learning settings, developing professional behaviour, communication, and health and safety skills to support the wellbeing of children. Develop practical skills to support diverse learners through inclusive practices, apply knowledge of learning and development, assist with student learning, and contribute to creating effective learning resources within real education environments.
PROGRAMME CONTENT INCLUDES:
- Applying professional behaviour and health and safety practices to maintain health, safety and wellbeing of children
- Communicating effectively to participate within the education support and care community
- Applying principles of inclusive practice for diverse learners
- Applying basic knowledge of learning and human development
- Assisting with supporting students with their learning
- Assisting in the production of resources

QUALIFICATIONS AVAILABLE:
- New Zealand Certificate in Education Support & Care Level 3
ENTRY CRITERIA:
All students who wish to enrol must go through a selection interview process. Participants who meet the criteria below are able to take part in these programmes:
- Aged 16 years and above, and have left school
- Must be eligible to study in New Zealand
- Commitment to completing the qualifications
- Commitment to move to higher level education on completion of the programme
- Have an appropriate level of literacy & numeracy skill to study at Level 3
- Students require a placement in education support/teacher aide positions
- May be required to undergo safety checking in accordance with the Children's Act 2014 prior to placement.
LENGTH & HOURS:
Full-time
- 13 weeks
- Includes 120 hours of work-based learning
- Monday to Thursday – 9.00 am to 3.30 pm
- Friday – 9.00 am to 1.00 pm
Flexible
- 16 weeks
- Includes 16 x 6-hour workshops, 8 x 1-hour learning sessions, 176 hours self-directed learning, 120 hours of work-based learning
- Workshops are scheduled to meet the timetable for each intake
- Online option available
